Growing up, I never really celebrated Christmas, and not because I didn’t want to. I usually went to my dad’s for 2 weeks during Christmas break, and he never celebrated Christmas for religious reasons. So I typically open my presents after the New Year. Which always felt weird to me.
As I got older, I decided to spend Christmas with my mom and the rest of Christmas break with my dad.
The one tradition I always loved was the stockings. But I never really understood what it meant to put on stockings, and why people put stuff in them.
When I realised more about it, I was super happy to start this tradition with my family. It became a thing for my mom and me. The cool stuff we find to put in them.
The funny thing is that when I started dating Victor, I found out that his family never did stockings either. I started a stocking for him. Now that we’ve been living together for almost 3 years, I have a stocking for him and our dog, Duke. However, I am considering making stockings for my in-laws. Why not start this tradition with them, too?
